WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool, using a feather stroke technique to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer/more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some of older methods. Body tattoos use ink while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING/OMBRE SHADING?
Microshading and ombré shading is also a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure where it uses a needle that places semi-permanent pigment in the upper layer of skin in a stippling technique. The overall look of the eyebrows once it has healed is more of a filled-in make-up look compared to the hair-like look of microblading. Some clients prefer this type of look or if someone has an oily skin complexion, this procedure might be more ideal for better healed results. This technique can be done manually or shaded with machine, each technique creates a different result, consult with us to find out what suits you best.
WHAT IS COMBINATION BROWS?
This is the best of both worlds - combining microblading and shading together. Usually microblading is completed at the fronts of the brows for more of an ombré look, or completely done to the tails to keep it looking more hair-like and fluffy and ombré shading is completed in the middle of the brows to the tails to keep the shape looking defined and more filled-in. Usually if your skin-type is more oily, this method is great for retention longevity.
HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?
Two hours on average. During your appointment we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Much of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The actual procedure itself takes 30min to an hour. The touch-up appointment will take about an hour.
IS THE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT INCLUDED?
In order to ensure that the brows heal perfectly a minimum of two treatments are usually needed 6-10 weeks apart on average. This first touch-up gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly faded or allows the client to make suggestions if they want adjustments with the shape or colour. It is not included in the initial price, as not every client will require a touch-up. A third touch up may be required, depending on skin type, following proper aftercare, or certain skin care regimes etc.
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:
- Skin type (oily skin fade faster)
- Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)
- Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)
- Use of daily anti-aging products e.g.- (Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo
DOES IT HURT?
We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the Microblading begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel a slight discomfort, but it’s relatively pain free for most.
(PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)
CAN I EXERCISE AFTER GETTING MICROBLADING?
You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.
CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?
As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or breastfeeding women.
PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT
To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of our tools are one time use only. ALL blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?
If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.
You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.
If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment.
If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you must wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
You must stop using Retinol 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid using it for the 2 weeks following your appointment.
If you get Botox regularly please get that done no later than 2 weeks before your appointment. This is to ensure we can make your brows as symmetrical as possible.
Avoid chemical peels at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks before and after your procedure. Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn. In this case, email us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or any blood thinning medication 24 hours prior to your appointment.
If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 10 days after the procedure due to the aftercare maintenance.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined. This will last 3-4 days. Do not panic! It is normal.
Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-48 hours. In some cases, it may last around the eyebrow area for up to 3 days, but will not prevent working or socializing. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should only be minimal discomfort.
The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6 weeks that your touch-up/adjustment can be done. Keep in mind that microbladed brows healed up to 30% softer than the initial color.
Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.
Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results
The day of the treatment:
Gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this for the full day until any potential oozing has stopped (not everyone experiences it). Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph.
Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don't worry....THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!) Gently and with a very light touch, wash your eyebrows each morning and night with your finger tips, water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil or Neutrogena. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue or soft towel. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants. Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area in the morning, afternoon if the brows are dry and before bed. It. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
Use a fresh pillowcase Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color. If a scab falls off and the pigment disappears, don’t worry, it will re-appear within the week.
Pigment will feel dark and area may be a bit swollen. The color will fade 20-40% in the first 7-10 days. It is common for the hair strokes to look more solid as they heal.
No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks. Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors. Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days. Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.
Important note about showering:
Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area. Putting a thin layer of ointment on brows before showering is recommended.
Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your microblading procedure.
*individual results may vary, depending on skin, and proper aftercare*
- Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.
- Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, face peels and exfoliation must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment.
- If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician. Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

DOES DERMAPLANING MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW BACK DARKER/THICKER?
Dermaplaning is different from shaving, it is an exfoliation treatment. Using a razor on your face is completely different then using a scalpel blade. Some of the coarser hair may feel a little stubbly but that is just because of the surface of the hair being removed.
Yes, if you were to shave your face every day you could cause a problem, but being fine lanugo hair it should not aggravate or make the hair coarser.
Most clients that come in for dermaplaning are fair skin and light hair, I would not recommend this treatment on coarser darker facial hair. Waxing, Laser or Electrolysis would be recommended.

LASH LIFT AND TINT FAQS
WHAT IS A LASH LIFT?
The lash lift procedure has revolutionized old, inadequate perming techniques. Using silicone pads instead of perm rods, this new technique can lift, straighten or curl, and lengthen your own natural lashes to create a brighter, fuller, wide eyed look. No need for extensions and the associated aftercare, this will last you 6-8 weeks and can be combined with a tint to leave the mascara behind.
CAN A LASH LIFT BE USED TO COMPLIMENT ANOTHER SERVICE?
Yes! A lash Lift is enhanced when you use an eyelash growth product, such as Lash Food which is available in our store. While your lashes grow longer, our process controls straight or overly curly lashes by giving them a uniform lifted look. Black eyelash tint is applied during the treatment to enhance the look of your lashes.
IS A LASH LIFT THE SAME AS AN EYELASH PERM?
No the Lash lift is a new, improved procedure, overcoming the ‘over curled’ look of its predecessor. While the chemical procedure is identical to a perm, the difference is in the results. By ditching the old fashioned perm rollers which curled back the lashes to the extent of the ‘dolly look’, the silicone pads used for this new procedure lifts the lash from the root in either a straight or curled, upwards fashion that produces length and a bright eyed enhanced look.
DOES THE LASH LIFT PROCEDURE HURT?
No the procedure is totally painless. You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment and although it may feel a little strange being unable to open your eyes for this time, it offers you a chance to relax during the treatment.
IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?
Yes. Lashes are lifted onto our specially shaped lifting pads before products are applied.
WILL THE LASH LIFT DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES??
No. Select a carefully trained and skilled Professional to ensure proper Lash Lift procedures are followed.
HOW LONG DOES A LASH LIFT TAKE?
A lash lift can take anything from 45 minutes to an hour from beginning to end. Maybe a little longer if you decide to have your eyelashes tinted which will enhance the effect of your lash lift.
HOW LONG WILL A LASH LIFT LAST?
A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. Some clients even say upwards to 10 weeks. There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.
WILL I HAVE A REACTION TO THE LOTION?
Very few people have a reaction to the lotion but that doesn’t mean you won’t be one of them. What one person reacts to, another is fine with. This is why you can opt to have a patch test 24 hours beforehand. A patch test is quick and simple. It consists of us placing 2 drops of lotions behind the ear for 15 minutes. Wiping it off and waiting to see if any subsequent irritation occurs over the next 24 hours such as redness, itching or inflammation for example.
I WEAR CONTACT LENSES, CAN I HAVE THIS PROCEDURE?
Yes. However, we will ask you to remove them temporarily during the treatment as the eyes will be closed throughout.
CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER MY LASH LIFT?
Yes but it is advised that you leave your lashes untouched for at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may find that there is no need for mascara anyway, but if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY EYES?
Gently, using mild products. Always wait 24 hours to do this, straight after the procedure.
CAN I USE AN EYELASH CURLER?
No. There will be no need for an eyelash curler as this treatment gives a much better result than using a curler. But more importantly, using one may weaken and damage your lashes.
HOW OFTEN CAN I HAVE A LASH LIFT?
A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about 2 months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.
